Exam

The exam is available

The exam has been published in the EXAM system. Please, remember to enrol also in Sisu. The EXAM computers should have the Java compiler and interpreter as well as NetBeans installed.

You must pass the exam in order to receive the course grade.

The exam opens on Monday, 22.4.2024 and closes on Friday 31.5.2024, 23.59. (There are no separate exam windows, because a programming task, whose evaluation would have required a break in the exam, was not finally included in the exam.)

Enrol for the exam in the Sisu system. Please, see “Programming 3: Interfaces and Techniques Spring 2024, Exam in English, 4.3.2024–31.5.2024” in Sisu. Your course grade cannot be recorded unless you enrol for the exam in Sisu. If you forget to enrol, you can enrol in Sisu after the exam, provided that the exam is still open. The Sisu enrolment closes once the the exam closes on 31.5, 23.59.

The exam is electronic and it is taken in the EXAM system that is available in dedicated computer labs and accessible rooms of the Tampere University. Reserve a computer for the exam at the time and place of your choosing. EXAM sends an email confirming your reservation. You can check the number of the computer allotted to you from this email. Familiarise yourself with the EXAM instructions, if you have not used EXAM before.

The exam lasts 55 minutes.

You may take the exam in a individual accessible exam room, if you belong to the risk group for the severe coronavirus disease.

Please, contact Jorma Laurikkala via email (jorma.laurikkala@tuni.fi), if you need additional time for the exam. Attach your proposal for individual study arrangements to your email.

The exam consists of multiple-choice questions. The questions may be accompanied by Java programs, code fragments or Java API documentation, but actual programming is not required.

Plussa’s course material is unavailable in the exam and the access to Internet in general is very restricted. For example, Google search and ChatGPT cannot be used.

The exam is evaluated on the pass or fail scale. You will pass, if you gather at least half of the available points. The exam results are not published in Plussa or otherwise, because EXAM evaluates your answers automatically after you have submitted them and sends an email that has a link to your exam result.

You can take the exam at most four times.

The grades are recorded in Sisu mainly in larger batches. Please, contact the responsible teachers via course email (prog3@tuni.fi), if you need to have your grade ahead of the schedule, for example, because you are graduating.
