Video lectures

One should start to familiarize with a certain topic by watching the appropriate video lectures. After watching the video lecture try to answer the small set of questions related to the lecture (the lecture-questions). The purpose of these questions is to activate your thinking right after watching the video and make notes to the learning diary about the questions risen during the video. These questions can be asked in the next weeks discussion session.

You will receive points by watching the video lectures and by answering the lecture-questions. To get points for watching the video-lectures you must have watched at least half of the lecture before 23.59 o’clock on Sunday. This same deadline applies for answering the lecture-questions.

The points from watching the videos will be scaled so that for 3/4 of watching you would get 3/4 from the maximum points for the week (10 p/week). The watching statistics will be taken from Panopto (this is why you need to login using TUNI-credentials).

Discussion sessions

Discussion sessions are held with the assumption that the video-lectures of the previous week have been studied, so that the session can be used to deepen the knowledge by discussions, questions and small exercises. Students don’t need to register beforehand to attend a discussion session .

You will receive points for attending the discussion sessions (4 p/week). The attendance will be logged by using a QR-code/URL and TUNI-login. We will monitor that the number of attendees and the number in the logger match, so it is not worth trying to trick. You will no be given points for the first lecture (since its purpose is to cover course setup and general info).

The times for the discussion sessions are as follows:

  • Thursday 12-14 (TB104 auditorium)

Our department has decided that all bachelor level teaching sessions (like these) discussion sessions will be held on campus. If you do have a special reason to participate remotely, you can contact the responsable teacher (tiina.partanen@tuni.fi) to discuss the possibility to get a Zoom-link for remote participation.
